Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Altenew sure has some amazing classes and I really enjoyed this one! I love how these classes really get me out of my comfort zone. It makes me look at stamps differently. When I see a stamp set, I see it being the main star of the card, the focal point. This class taught me to take what I see as the focal point and make it the background. That is what I did with this card. After I used distress oxide ink to create the colors of the background, I wet my stamp with just water and stamped right onto the color I just laid down. That water removed some of the color creating this beautiful background. This technique was so fun to play around with and one that I will be using a lot in the future.

I also created one more card for this class and it was a fun way to use string. Something that I have never seen before and could not wait to try. It was just using very thin string. But really any kind of string will work. I wrapped it around my fingers a few times, cut it and then used foam dots on the sentiment to adhere the string down. So it was stuck between the card base and the sentiment. So fun! Something I never thought of doing. I hope you try this fun detail to spruce up your next card.
