Have you ever heard the big mouth frog joke? My dad told it to EVERYBODY, it was his signature joke. In fact, I remember a point in my life where I just rolled my eyes every time he started telling the joke. My dad passed away on Valentines day 2010. I would love to hear my dad tell this joke again, that won’t happen BUT, I sure heard it loud and clear as soon as I started creating this card. Now I can’t get it out of my head and it makes me smile every time!
This is the version my Dad told to everyone. My dad was 6’3 and had a loud booming voice when he told this joke. He put some much drama into this joke, he should have gotten an Oscar for it. Ha
Now onto todays card. I started off with a digi stamp. This stamp was from Girl Frog Digital Stamp (stamponit.net) I am new to Stamp on it, but I am loving all the designs there. Take some time to look around, you won’t be disappointed. I bought this digi stamp and put it in my silhouette software and manipulated the size of the frog. I cut a bunch out and colored them in with alcohol inks. I use Spectrum Noir Alcohol makers. About the Spectrum Noir Alcohol Marker Range – Spectrum Noir Colouring System from Crafter’s Companion I am also a newbie to coloring with markers. My coloring isn’t super fancy, yet. But someday soon, I will get there. I cut out a few extras of the frog and didn’t color them, but I glued it to the one that I did color. I love this technique for adding a little dimension to the card with out using pop up foam. For the background of the card I am trying a new technique of ink blending. I have a stencil that I made with just a circle on it and used some of my distress oxide ink by Ranger. Here is the link to candied apple Tim Holtz Distress® Oxide® Ink Pad Candied Apple (rangerink.com color that used. I stamped “will you be mine” from a very old stamp set by impression obsession. I left the card blank inside so that I can add my own love note to it.
I am so excited to share this Big Mouth frog Card line with the world. Telling jokes was the way my Dad loved to make people smile. Now I smile every time I hear this joke.
Big Mouth frog hugs!
