Permission to not be perfect!

Sometimes a hobby is hard, sometimes you want to give up. Start a new hobby and when that doesn’t work out, find something new. I am here to tell you that it is OK to give yourself permission to not be perfect! It is ok to keep trying, it is ok to be frustrated, it is ok to take a break. The key is to get back to it. I stopped making cards for a long while. I just didn’t have the time and I told myself I wasn’t really good at it. It was a constant battle because I knew that I needed to make cards, it was therapy for me. I am so glad that I kept thinking about it. It turns out, that cardmaking is a passion of mine. Making people smile through my cards makes me so happy!

This card is NOT perfect! There is so much more I could have done to this card. But I sat down and made a card and it made me happy and I know it will make someone very happy when they receive it.

This adorable little guy just caught my eye. I thought the whole set gave me lots of fun options for a fun little birthday card. Check out the link to the right of this post. This is an Art Impression stamp set. I just had to use a polka dot embossing folder to help give me the texture that this card demands. I stamped him with my lawn fawn black ink pad and colored him in with alcohol inks. When I made this card I lacked the skills of coloring and I think I still do, but I practice all the time and that is good enough for me. I used a stitched rectangle die on 110lbs cardstock. He was so much fun to make. Looking back at this card I think of all the different things I could have done to it. But there will always be another card to make and I love that about this hobby!

Sometimes I just color, sometimes I just watch you tube videos. Sometimes I just go up to my studio and create. You will get better, you will learn lots of new things. Keep practicing, keep learning! It is ok that you are not an expert right now, I am not an expert, but I have been doing this for 20+ years and my cards aren’t anywhere near what they were like when I started. So give yourself a little grace, give yourself the permission to have fun and to fail, that is how you will learn! So, off you go, go learn a little more! I know you will have fun in the process!
