Let’s face it, it isn’t hard or expensive to make someone happy. But sometimes we get so involved in our own little world that we forget how easy it is to make them smile. So do it, forget about yourself for a second and just do it. What does that look like to you? Is it buying someone a coffee, is it baking cookies and taking them to your neighbor, or it is just as simple as a smile?
The easiest way I know how to make someone smile is through my cards. It is an old tradition, the way we use to communicate with people, it is becoming a lost form of letting people know they are being thought of. It may be slipping away, but it isn’t gone yet. Selfishly, making cards is what makes me happy. Wanna see me smile, tell me I have 2 hours to go up to my studio and make cards… did you see it, the happy dance I just did with the big grin on my face? So I figure if there is this much joy going into my cards that I am making, there will most certainly will be smiles on the other end of that card!
But making cards for my Etsy shop is hard for me. Because I don’t know the who the recipient is. It is a struggle and I am working through it. But I am here to tell you that it does get easier. But it is going to take time. So do it, just jump in feet first and do it. The person who gets your card will be happy you did!
Now onto todays card. This card just made me happy. The colors, the shape/fold of the card, down to the smallest detail of the pearls that are on this card, it just made me happy. I used my Cameo to cute out the base of this card. I used some dies that I thought would add a little interest to the background. I used printed paper form October Afternoon (one of my favorites) to create the background of the card. The sentiment on the front is also from a piece of 12×12 paper that I just cut out (sometimes I feel like this is cheating because, it is so easy to just cut out a piece of paper, but it is ok to take the easy route every now and then) The base cut out of this card is called a square center step card. I love using my cameo to cut out a bunch of card bases all at one time, makes my designing time so much faster!
Thanks for looking at todays card. I hope you are inspired to get out there and make someone smile, if that isn’t through card making, that is ok, there are a million other things that you can do. Just get out there and do it.
